LYDIA BOYLAN WINS TRACK CYCLING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS SILVER

Ireland’s Lydia Boylan has won the 2019 UCI Track Cycling World Championships Silver Medal in the Women’s Points Race at the Pruszkow Arena in Poland - just 48hrs after team mate Mark Downey won Bronze in the Men’s Points Race. Boylan, who lives in Dublin, helped Ireland to a stellar ninth place in Saturday’s Women’s Madison with Shannon McCurley and lined up for Sunday’s Points Race gunning for better. BLARNEY plays host this Sunday to Round 2 of the Cycling Ireland National Road Series with all eyes on local rider Eoin O’Connell in the Men’s Donal Crowley Memorial Road Race. The 31-year-old Blarney native, who rides this year for host club Blarney CC, finished a respectable 19th on General Classification in Easter’s international stage race, Kerry Group Ras Mumhan, and placed second in the Donal Crowley last season, and in 2014.

Darnell Moore Wins Round 3 of the National Road Series for Men - Shay Elliott

OMAGH’S Darnell Moore secured a breakthrough victory with an impressive solo victory in Sunday’s Round 3 of the Cycling Ireland Men’s National Road Series in Wicklow. The 20-year-old former Fermanagh footballer had enjoyed a series of podium places in the build up to the Shay Elliott Memorial Race, and finished fourth in the 2016 edition after taking second in the lower tier SHA3 on the same card previously.
